Phase Eight was founded in 1979 by Patsy Seddon, who opened a small shop in a Wandsworth Boutique. She wanted to sell dresses and clothing that werer stylish and sophisticated, yet accessible, affordable and practical, but she struggled to find exactly what she was looking for, which was why she started to design her own range - heralding the start of the Phase Eight brand.
The name "Phase Eight" is made from a combination of P Hayes - Hayes was Patsy's maiden name - and the address of the first boutique, which was 8 Bellevue Terrace. Hence P Hayes 8 became Phase Eight.
This design lead brand is becoming increasingly popular and continues to grow without compromising the brand's founding design ethos. In 2010, sales of Phase Eight clothing exceeded £100 million.
